Fred Page Cup BCHL Final Schedule Confirmed, Hirose Commits to Michigan Tech:

The Fred Page Cup BCHL Final schedule is confirmed following Nanaimo's 2-0 win over Penticton on Thursday, which eliminated Chilliwack from the Semifinal Round-Robin. All games in the final series start at 7 pm, except for Game Two in Penticton and Game Seven (if necessary), also in Penticton.

April 10 — Nanaimo at Penticton - 7 pm
April 11 — Nanaimo at Penticton - 6 pm
April 13 — Penticton at Nanaimo - 7 pm
April 14 — Penticton at Nanaimo - 7 pm
x-April 16 — Nanaimo at Penticton - 7 pm

Salmon Arm forward Taro Hirose has committed to Michigan Tech University for 2016-17. The Calgary, AB, product led the Backs in scoring during the 2014-15 season, posting 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists) in 58 games. The 18-year-old committed to Salmon Arm back in August 2013 and is a graduate of the Edge School, which plays in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

Defenseman Derik Johnson (Penticton, 2008-11) signed an amateur tryout with the Missouri Mavericks of the ECHL. The 25-year-old just wrapped up his four year college career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In 108 career NCAA games, Johnson had 17 points (two goals, 15 assists) and 211 penalty minutes. He played his first game with the Mavericks on Friday night.


Forward Taylor Peters (Penticton, 2009-10) has been reassigned by the AHL's Texas Stars to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. In 39 games with Texas this season, he has three assists. In six games with Idaho, the Burnaby, BC, product has four points (one goal, three assists).
