The Cowichan Valley Capitals swung a pretty significant trade that might actually fly under the radar for many casual fans.
The Caps picked up 18-year-old Alexis Guilbault from the Cégep de St-Hyacinthe Lauréats of the QJAAAHL for future considerations today. The move comes a day after Cowichan Head Coach and GM Bob Beatty sent Ambrose Firkus to the Okotoks Oilers for Taylor Allan and future considerations.
Guilbault was leading the Lauréats in scoring at the time of the deal, with 39 points in 31 games. Remarkably, those totals are only good enough for 31st in the QJAAAHL overall. However, those point totals are more than any current Capitals player has.
It remains to be seen what kind of impact Guilbault has in coming west, but his point totals from this year and last can't be ignored.
Nothing posted officially from the Caps, Lauréats or QJAAAHL, but it is posted under Transactions on the BCHL website.
