Vernon Acquires Veteran Chase McMurphy From Calgary for Josh Betinol and Futures:

The Vernon Vipers added some major fire power to their roster earlier this week, picking up the junior A rights to forward Chase McMurphy (93) from the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Calgary Mustangs for forward Josh Betinol (94) and future considerations.

McMurphy's stats speak for themselves as I expect him to be a big time offensive weapon for Vernon GM and Head Coach Jason Williamson's squad going forward.

When the deal went down, I wondered if McMurphy would join the Vipers as he's spent this season with the USHL's Tri-City Storm. However, when he appeared on Vernon's roster a couple of days ago, it confirmed that Chestermere, Alberta product was leaving the Storm to join the Vipers.

To Vernon Vipers:
F Chase McMurphy (93) To Calgary Mustangs:
F Josh Betinol (94) + Future Considerations

Here's the release on the trade from the Vipers:

The Vernon Vipers have traded 19 year old forward Josh Betinol and future considerations to the Calgary Mustangs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in exchange for the rights to 19 year old forward Chase McMurphy.

Betinol appeared in 10 games for the Vipers registering 1 assist.  McMurphy has been with Tri City Storm of the USHL this season after spending the last 3 years with the Mustangs in the AJHL.

The 6’1 190 pound product of Chestermere Alberta is committed to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for 2014-2015.  Last season he recorded 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points in 60 games with Calgary.
