Trail Acquires Defenseman Cody Bardock from Sherwood Park:

The Trail Smoke Eaters made their first trade since firing GM and Head Coach Bill Birks on Wednesday, shoring up their defense by trading for defenseman Cody Bardock (93) from the AJHL's Sherwood Park Crusaders for future considerations.

To make room for Bardock, defenseman Braeden Jones (94) is no longer on the Smoke Eaters roster after one assist in 13 games and I'm investigating to find out if he was traded or released.

Here's the release from the Smoke Eaters:

The Trail Smoke Eaters have completed a trade with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Sherwood Park Crusaders, adding 20 year-old Cody Bardock to the team’s blueline.

Smoke Eaters have acquired the 6’5” defenseman for future considerations.

Bardock, from Lethbridge, Alberta, scored 1 goal and 7 points in twelve games with the Crusaders this season, adding 22 penalty minutes. In 82 career Junior “A” games with Prince George, Brooks, and Sherwood Park, Bardock has put up 5 goals and 25 points, amassing 63 minutes in penalties.

The acquisition of Bardock means the Smoke Eaters now have the full complement of overage players (6) allowed under BC Hockey League regulations.

The Smoke Eaters would like to welcome Cody to Trail, and back to the BCHL.
