Dustin Scafe Hired As Merritt Centennials Play-By-Play Announcer:

(Scafe in the booth broadcasting a KIJHL game during the 2010-11 season)

Big time congrats are in order for Dustin Scafe, who late this afternoon was announced as the replacement for Graham Turnbull as the play-by-play announcer with the Merritt Centennials.

Turnbull was hired just last week as the Vernon Vipers play-by-play man, which caused Q101 Program Manager Taylor Landry to immediately look for a replacement in time for the BCHL Showcase and the Cents first regular season broadcast on Friday, September 6th vs. Coquitlam.

Scafe is only 22 years old, but already has three seasons of play-by-play under his belt. He started in 2010-11 doing games for the KIJHL's Sicamous Eagles before calling games for two Fort St. John teams (the Huskies of the NWJHL and the Flyers of the NPHL) and then moving on to the Melfort Mustangs and Nipawin Hawks of the SJHL.

I haven't seen a media release distributed regarding Scafe's hiring, but Q101 in Merritt did issue this Tweet:
