Head Coach & GM Jon Calvano Fired by Coquitlam Express:

After three seasons at the helm of the Express, Coquitlam has relieved Head Coach and GM Jon Calvano of his duties.

Calvano had a 82-87-3-4 record during his tenure in Coquitlam. The Express didn't make the playoffs this season and lost out in the first round both in 2012 (Powell River) and 2011 (Surrey).

It looks like Calvano's replacement will be announced soon as the Express posted this brief statement on their website this morning:

The ownership of the Coquitlam Express formally announces that Jon Calvano has been relinquished of his duties as General Manager and Head Coach effective immediately. A very strong shortlist of Head Coach candidates has ben indentified and a decision on a replacement is pending. The Coquitlam Express wish Jon the best of luck in his future endeavours.

Later today, the Express revised the announcement that was posted earlier:

The ownership of the Coquitlam Express formally announced today that Jon Calvano will not be continuing as the General Manager and Head Coach for next season. A very strong shortlist of Head Coach candidates has been identified and a decision on a replacement is pending. The Coquitlam Express wishes Jon the best of luck in his future endeavours.
