Penticton-Vernon Trade:

For the first time in almost ten years, Interior Division rivals Penticton and Vernon have swung a trade that many feel could work out for both teams both now and in the future.

To Penticton Vees:
F Jedd Soleway (94) To Vernon Vipers:
F Dexter Dancs (95) Here's the release from the Vipers website:

The Vernon Vipers have traded forward Jedd Soleway (94) to the Penticton Vees for forward Dexter Dancs(95)

Soleway was in his second season with the Vipers having recorded 5 goals and 11 assists in 26 games.

Dancs is committed to the University of Michigan for 2014-2015 he has 2 goals and 3 assists while seeing limited time in 24 games.  Last season with the Osoyoos Coyotes of the KIJHL Dancs tallied 67 points in 42 games.

He is currently listed as a “C” prospect on NHL Central Scoutings watch List for the 2014 draft.

The Vipers would like to thank Jedd for his contribution to the hockey club and the community and wish him the best of luck in the future.

The last trade between the long time interior division rivals was an October 2003 move that saw the Vipers send defenceman Jason Blucke to Penticton for future considerations.

Dancs is expected to make his Viper debut on Thursday when the Vipers host the Trail Smoke Eaters.

And from the Vees site:

The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club has traded forward Dexter Dancs (’95) to the Vernon Vipers for forward Jedd Soleway (’94).

The trade is the first between the two divisional rivals in nine years, dating back to October of 2003. Then the Vipers sent defenseman Jason Buckle to Penticton for future considerations.

Soleway, 18, was in his second season with the Vipers, picking up five goals and 11 assists in 26 games. In 84 games the Vernon native has tallied 18 goals and 41 points. Soleway came to Vernon via the Okanagan Rockets of the British Columbia Major Midget League (BCMML), where he put up 16 goals and 33 points in 40 games in 2010-2011. Soleway will add a physical presence up front, standing at 6’3 and weighing in at 208 pounds.

Dancs, 17, was in his first season with the Vees after appearing in 15 games last season as an AP. The Penticton Vees organization would like to thank Dexter for his contributions to the Vees, and wish him all the best in his future with Vernon. Jedd will wear number 24 for the Vees and will make his debut on Friday when the Vees host the Merritt Centennials at the SOEC; face-off is 7pm.
