Trail Makes a Quartet of Moves:

The Trail Smoke Eaters have been busy today ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, acquiring two players and trading another.

First the Smokies added D Joren Johnson (94) to their regular roster (which had actually been reported by a number of media sources before Christmas). However, until now he had still been listed as an affiliate player with Trail, but has been practicing and playing with the Smoke Eaters as a regular.

Then with a glut of blueliners, the Smokies traded D Tanner Hicks (93) to the AJHL's Brooks Bandits for future considerations.

Hicks had been acquired earlier this season from Alberni Valley. He does have some experience in the AJHL, having played five games with the Okotoks Oilers last season. And he's from Calgary to boot, so the 19 year old is returning to his home province. Here's how this deal shakes down...

And Trail GM/Head Coach Bill Birks also acquired F Riley McDougall (93) from the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL for future considerations. Here's the 411 on this deal...

The Smoke Eaters also granted F Brendan Sanitini (93) his outright release, meaning that he's a free agent able to sign with any junior team without Trail receiving any compensation.
