Former Centennial Dustin Johnson Joins KIJHL's Nelson Leafs:

(Former Cents forward Dustin Johnson)

Last year's Centennials leading scorer Dustin Johnson, who was traded to Victoria earlier this season in the deal that brought Lino Chimienti and Brett Kolins to Merritt, has resurfaced with the Nelson Leafs of the Kootenay International Hockey League.

Johnson posted 25 points in 28 games split between the Cents and Grizz this season before being released by Victoria late in November.

He had 58 points in 35 KIJHL games with Summerland as a 17 year old in 2007-08 before being signed by Nanaimo and embarking on his BCHL career.

Johnson reportedly took part in the warm-up for Nelson's home game against the Spokane Braves, but didn't play in the game. It'll be interesting to see if he's in the Leafs line-up tomorrow in Spokane. It's also interesting to note that Johnson is listed on Nelson's roster as a defenceman although I'm pretty sure that's just a typo.
