The Centennials are officially the hottest team in the BCHL's Interior Conference after a 3-1 win last night in Trail. The Cents are 7-3 in their last ten, which is the best in the Interior. Penticton is a close second at 6-2-2 in its last ten while Westside is 6-4 in its last ten.

Billy Marshall scored the eventual winner 7:57 into the first period as the Merritt Centennials skated to a 3-1 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters at the Cominco Arena Friday night in BCHL play.
Jeff Jones and Max Vallis also scored for Merritt (16-19-0-5) while Evan Stack, David Sabey and Chad Brears each chipped in with an assist.
Scott Jacklin replied for Trail (23-17-2-1) at 15:15 of the second period.
Merritt netminder Tyler Steel made 26 saves for the win while Kiefer Smiley stopped 35 shots for the Smoke Eaters.
The Centennials went 1-for-2 with the man advantage while Trail missed out on all four of their power plays.
The game started approximately an hour late after Merritt didn't arrive to the Cominco Arena until just after 8 pm.
The win is the Centennials seventh in their last ten games and fifth in their last six. Merritt's next game is Saturday in Salmon Arm.
Cents coach/GM Luke Pierce joined Alex Grebenyuk on the post-game show to dicuss the win.

D Trevor Hunt (Chilliwack, 2003-06) has been acquired by Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) from Stockton Thunder (ECHL) for future considerations. Hunt has one assist and 16 penalty minutes in ten games with Stockton this season. . . .
