Cents Acquire Bodger from Powell River:

(Ryne Bodger)

The January 10th trade between the Centennials and the Powell River Kings is finally complete as it's been announced that the future considerations also include D Ryne Bodger (89). The son of long-time NHLer Doug Bodger has been picked up along with D Derek Hills (90) (as was earlier announced) for Jordan Grant (90).

With these two additions, the fight for spots along the Centennials blueline is likely to be a heated one with nine players with BCHL experience vying for six or seven spots. There is a chance that D Casey Fratkin (89) could move back up to forward, as that's his natural position, but he actually played his best hockey last season as a defenceman.

As I mentioned earlier, D Tyler Miller (91) is officially listed on the Cents roster, but he's made it clear that he wants to try his hand at the WHL. There is a chance that he does come back to the BCHL if he's not successful.

The bottom line is that Cents coach and GM Joey Bouchard definitely has some options for future trades as the logjam at defence is not necessarily a bad thing if he can use the players to acquire some help up front.

According to Bouchard, all players will be at the Cents Spring Evaluation Camp this weekend in Abbotsford.
